Electric Radio Controlled Vehicle Buying Tips

Defined Tag:

Many newcomers to the hobby of the world of radio controlled vehicles gravitate first to the electric versions. The electric radio controlled cars and trucks on the market are in general easier to run and easier to maintain than the gas powered radio controlled vehicles, and they are generally quite a bit less expensive as well.

Perhaps the most important thing most new buyers of electric radio controlled vehicles will need to decide is whether to buy a ready to run vehicle or a build it yourself kit.

Ready to Run or Kit?

In most cases, the newcomer to the radio controlled vehicle hobby may want to stick with ready to run kits.  These ready to run kits are great for the beginner to the hobby, and many people love the fact that they are ready to run straight out of the box.  When buying a ready to run radio controlled vehicle, it is important to make sure the box contains at least a motor, a radio, a receiver, and an electronic speed control system.  If you decide to try a build it yourself kit, it is important to make sure that all these items are included in the kit.  Any items that are not included will need to be purchased separately.

Building your own radio controlled car or truck can be a lot of fun, and many hobbyists will eventually build their own radio controlled vehicle from scratch, or use the things they have learned to soup up a ready to run model.  Most newcomers, however, will want the instant gratification that can only be achieved through the purchase of an RTR (ready to run) radio controlled car.

Where to buy electric radio controlled vehicles

While radio controlled vehicles are somewhat of a specialty item, they are available from a remarkable variety of retailers.  There are a number of excellent radio controlled vehicle hobby stores, both on the internet and off.  Not only are these shops great sources of great radio controlled vehicles at great prices, but they are great sources of tips and information on how to keep those vehicles running at top speed and in top form, both now and years down the road.
