Introductory Guide to RC Nitro Cars

Defined Tag:

For those radio controlled vehicle enthusiasts with the need for speed, it is hard to beat the speed and power of nitro powered radio controlled vehicles. The nitro powered radio controlled cars, trucks and buggies are among the most popular, and most customizable, in the hobby.

Choosing the Right Nitro Powered Car or Truck

The most important part for the new radio controlled vehicle enthusiast is to choose the right nitro powered car or truck.  It is important to choose the right kit or RTR (ready to run) vehicle, and it can be lots of fun to shop for the perfect car or truck.

Some of the most popular kinds of nitro powered radio controlled vehicles include:

Off-road nitro radio controlled trucks – These powerful and rugged trucks are able to handle even the largest obstacles and biggest jumps, and they can go virtually anywhere, over even the roughest terrain.  Their combination of power, durability and speed make them a great choice for newcomers to the nitro radio controlled vehicle hobby.

On-road nitro gas powered radio controlled cars – These fast and furious nitro powered cars are designed to race at top speed, on the track or on any paved surface.  While these vehicles are able to achieve higher speeds, they are also more easily damaged in a crash than the more rugged off road radio controlled trucks.

Nitro buggies – Nitro buggies combine the best of both worlds, with both the durability of the off-road trucks and the speed, handling and great acceleration of the radio controlled nitro cars.

Kit or Ready to Run?

Perhaps the most important decision is whether to buy a kit or a pre-built RTR (ready to run) radio controlled vehicle.  For the beginning enthusiast, it is highly recommended to purchase a ready to run vehicle.  With a ready to run vehicle, the car or truck is ready to go right out of the box, and the radio equipment comes already installed.  In most cases nothing is needed to get going except what is in the box.  Many ready to run nitro radio controlled cars are designed for super fast operation, and the fact that they are ready to go right out of the box provides instant gratification for the new racer.
