Radio Controlled Cars Kit or RTR?

Defined Tag:

Any person who is new to the world of radio controlled cars and trucks will quickly become familiar with terms like kit and RTR. In the world of radio controlled cars and trucks, the term RTR stands for ready to run, and it means just what its name implies. A radio controlled vehicle that is advertised as ready to run will be ready to run straight out of the box. In most cases all the buyer will need to do to be racing in minutes is to hook up the battery pack and perhaps charge the battery. With a ready to run radio controlled car you can go from box to racetrack in a matter of mere minutes.

There are also radio controlled cars and trucks advertised as almost ready to run, often shortened to ARTR in radio control speak. In most cases these vehicles will require only a few things to get them up and running. In some cases the body may need to be finished, in others the engine may need to be supplied by the buyer or attached and in still other cases the buyer will need to buy a battery pack or other accessory. When buying an almost ready to run radio controlled vehicle it is important to determine what other components you need to buy to get the car or truck on the road.

At the other end of the spectrum are the build it yourself kits. These build it yourself kits will generally need a number of different accessories, such as the battery pack, the engine, the radio, etc. Many experienced radio controlled car and truck enthusiasts prefer to purchase build it yourself kits, as this provides them with the opportunity to add their own engines, their own wheels and tires, their own radios and other important components. In addition, the prices of build it yourself kits are generally quite a bit lower than those for comparable ready to run vehicles, so those who know what they are doing can save quite a bit of cash while building the car or truck of their dreams.
