Tips for Buying the Best Radio Controlled Vehicles
Radio controlled vehicles are steadily gaining in popularity, and the RC hobby is a favorite with both individuals and families. It is important, of course, to buy the best radio controlled vehicles you can, and to know what to look for before you go shopping.
Many newcomers to the world of radio controlled vehicles are surprised at just how powerful and fast these vehicles really are. While many of us are familiar with the popular toy radio controlled cars that have run around our living rooms and our driveways, there are radio controlled toys and trucks which are exact replicas of the hottest sports cars and monster trucks. In addition, many of these radio controlled vehicles are capable of hitting speeds of 30 miles per hour, 40 miles per hour and even 50 miles per hour and more. In addition to the many ready to run kits available in hobby shops, there are aftermarket tuning kits and accessories that allow these already fast vehicles to move even faster.
Radio controlled cars and trucks, in both electric and nitro varieties, are available from a wide variety of manufacturers, including Thunder Tiger, Traxxas and CEN. It is important to shop around carefully and to read the reviews to get the best bang for your buck.
The most commonly seen vehicles in the RC hobby are 1/10 scale model cars and trucks, but the larger 1/8 scale kits are also widely available, and other sizes are available as well. It is important to shop around and to choose the type of vehicle that best suits your own needs.
Off-road or Onroad? Radio controlled vehicles are available in both onroad and offroad varieties. Offroad radio controlled cars and trucks are built to be rugged and durable, and they are able to cope with common obstacles in the landscape, including rocks and steep up and downhill grades. These offroad vehicles usually have top speeds which are somewhat slower than their onroad cousins.
Radio controlled cars and trucks designed for onroad use, on the other hand, are generally faster, but they will be able to run only on racetracks or paved surfaces. When choosing a radio controlled vehicle it is important to consider the area you have to work with. If you have access to an RC racetrack or a large paved surface, you may enjoy the superior speed and control of the onroad vehicle, but if you will be restricted to unpaved surfaces you will need to consider that and you may want to choose an tough and rugged offroad radio controlled monster truck or buggy instead.
